Iconic music photos at Art The Hague


Besides the always present paintings, drawings and art prints of Easton Davy, Music Inspired Art will present iconic jazz and rock photos at Art The Hague, the art fair for contemporary art and photography, from October 2-6 at the Fokker Terminal.
Jazz photographs by Francis Wolff, Susanne Schapowalow and Jimmy Katz are surrounded by David Bowie, Amy Winehouse, Keith Richard and Bob Dylan, to name a few, shot by Mick Rock, Bent Rej and Rob Bosboom.

3 Music Photo Exhibitions During ArtWave Delft

A new Music and Photography festival from May 24 - June 5


The Golden Jazz Era, The Club of 27 and So Intense are the titles of three music photo exhibitions that are the backbone of ArtWave, a new music and photo festival in Delft. The L&C Lab Foundation and Music Inspired Art are co-producing this new festival. The program consists of exhibitions, a jazz festival, lectures, film screenings, a photographers day, concerts and a photo competition.

Prints of Francis Wolff, William Gottlieb, Susanne Schapowalow, Paul Bergen, David Redfern, Baron Wolman and Jim Marshall are included in the exhibitions.

Sneak Peeks in the hidden gallery


Since October 2018 Music Inspired Art has a large workspace to do research, exhibit and organize lectures on music photography. The venue is located in the center of the old City of Schiedam, so close to Rotterdam that they call it the Gin District of Rotterdam. In 2019 six lectures will be organized, all related to music photography and master music photographers.

In 2019 a few pilot lectures will be organized in Schiedam.
On Friday, January 18, Wim van Zon will tell about the life and work of German female jazz photographer Susanne Schapowalow who fell in love with jazz in 1947 and built a secret oeuvre  of beautiful portraits. Start 5 PM, tickets € 5,-. Door open 4 PM.
On Friday, March 1, the subject of the lecture will be Francis Wolff, co-owner and photographer of the legendary Blue Note Records jazz label. From a refugee photographer to one of the Big Four jazz photographers, the story of Francis Wolff is both breathtaking and inspirational.

North Sea Jazz Archives at City Art Rotterdam + tour


June 2018 - From June 29 to July 20 65 images from the North Sea Jazz Archives, selected by master photographers Vincent Mentzel, Hans van Ommeren, Henk Bothof and curator Wim van Zon are on display at the City Art Rotterdam Gallery and in 20 shops and coffe bars in the Old North district of Rotterdam. 

The opening will be embellished by Quartzite Quartet, the upcoming nu:jazz group, also invited by BUMA to play at the national InJazz Days. Saxophone player Zane Massey and bass player Andor Horvath will do the closing oncert on July 18. Both shows are part of the North Sea Round Town Festival.

The exhibitions are supported by the City of Rotterdam.


Jimi Hendrix Tribute Shows

October 2017 - Jazzcafé Dizzy will bbe the location for a special Jimi Hendrix exhibition and some rememberance events as it is 50 years ago that Hendrix did his only Dutch concert in Holland, in Rotterdam at the legendary HippieHappy Fair and on November 25 it will be Jimi's 75th birthday. We will also do a small exhibition at the Jimi Hendrix 75th Birthday Concert at Q Factory in Amsterdam.

The exhibitions are put together in close co-operation with VIP's International Art and encompass Jimi Hendrix photographs by Baron Wolman, Gered Mankowitz, Elliott Landy, Rob Bosboom, Bruce Fleming, David Redfern, Dominique Tarlé and Bent Rej. Also paintings by Judy van Meteren and Easton Davy will be on display.

On Friday November 10 the exhibition will be opened with a concert of young Belgian guitar wonder Stef delbare and his band featuring singer Mark Ritzema, the punk legend of Rotterdam.

On November 24 the whole day will be Jimi Hendrix Day at Dizzy. HippieHappy Fair organizer and former director of the Haags Gemeente Museum Wim van Krimpen will tell about dealing with Hendrix in Rotterdam, visitors of the Hendrix conceert  will tell their personal story and Project Hendrix will do 2 sets with Hendrix songs.




Special event for North Sea Round Town 2017


Music Inspired Art organizes a guided tour about the late great Rotterdam jazz musicians. The event is including a jazz diner and a concert by Harry Emmery, Rotterdam born double bass player who performed at North Sea Jazz for more than 90 times. September 13, 2014 - Finissage Jazz Katz EXHIBITION EXTENDED!

On Saturday, September 13, we will officially close the Jazz Katz exhibition in the castle of Woerden. For the last time 40 of the best jazz portraits made by Jimmy Katz will be on display. The 40 large size prints, made by EPSON master printer Hans van Ommeren, will be archived for future museum exhibitions. 24 prints are still for sale - prizes range from 900 to 2,900 euros.
At 3 PM MIA director Wim van Zon will host a guided tour in the castle's photo gallery In De Gewelven.

The Jazz Katz exhibition is extended till October 26! You can still visit the exhibition from 11 AM till 6 PM in the Woerden Castle. Mondays closed.

From 5 PM Jazz DJ Pat will heat up The Kitchen, slam poet Manuel Schiesser will open the show, a special Jazz Diner will be served and an amazing trio, Stefan Lievestro / Reinier Baas / Joris Roelofs, all North Sea Jazz performing artists, will jazz the night away.

October 11 - 18, 2013 - Music Inspired Art participates in DJ Icons Xperience


On October 11 the DJ Icons Xperience will mark the start of an exhibition series of paintings by Bo Woody Winter. Winter portrayed 22 of the most influential DJ's on large size canvas. In addition to the paintings some unique items are made of print combined with neon and liquid gloss. The revealing of the paintings will take place at the paradise-like Atzaro resort in Ibiza. After the opening a party is organized with Dutch dance legend Dimitri, Sarah Main, Eli Rojas and four other guest DJ's. The party is accessible with a special wrist band only.

September 2013 - Music Inspired Art colours the new North Sea Jazz Club in Amsterdam

MIA has developed an exhibition series for the new North Sea Jazz Club in Amsterdam (www.northseajazzclub.com). First exhibition was a photo show by Raphael Sprenger, German photographer who has exhibited two times at the North Sea Jazz Festival in Rotterdam.

Till the end of October the jazz photos of Ruud Lips and Richard Sinte Maartensdijk are on display at the club.

June 30, 2012 - Opening North Sea Art Show on July 4
On Wednesday, July 4 at 8 PM Jeroen Chabot, director of the Willem de Kooning Art cademy in Rotterdam, will open the 7th art show that MIA has been preparing for the North Sea Jazz Festival.
Location: Ahoy Rotterdam

Parking will be free, only this night.














June 4, 2012 - 3 Days Live Painting at North Sea 
Noel of Venour Collective, Alfred Gockel (Germany) and Hans Kleinjan will paint live to the music from the Congo stage in a special tent, placed just behind the stage on Congo Square during North Sea Jazz Festival 2012 (July 6-8 in Rotterdam). There were no sponsors found to cover the coming of Jazzamoart from Mexico.
Paintings and drawings made during the sessions at the festival will be for sale in the special Mekong exhibition room on the third floor of the Ahoy premises. All info at the festival in the information booth on the second floor of Ahoy.





March 19, 2012 - North Sea Jazz Art - Confirmations
German painter Alfred Gockel, Dutch art collective Venour and Mexican painter Jazzamoart will paint live on stage during the coming North Sea Jazz Festival. All three artists will also exhibit their paintings and drawing on the second floor of Ahoy, accompanied by Thea Gerritsen who will exhibit her jazz drawings.
